Process Analysis

20th century writer and philosopher G.K. Chesterton might have summed it up best when he stated "It isn't that they can't see the solution, it is that they can't see the problem."

Software quality issues are often symptoms of larger problems associated with the software development process. Webster's defines a process as "a series of actions, changes, or functions bringing about a result."

In software development however, actions, changes and functions that are not readily controlled by clearly defined steps, often creates an environment of instability leading to defective software and/or complete project failure.

Testability can help unmask & address those problematic areas of your software lifecycle in order for your organization to clearly see the problems at their source.

Implementing process improvement solutions to your software lifecycle problems.

Configuration Management

Configuration Management (CM) is defined as a discipline to ensure that the configuration of an item (and its components) is known and documented and that changes are controlled and tracked.

In laymen's terms, CM is the tracking and control of software development and its activities. CM is one of the most commonly overlooked and misunderstood areas of the software industry.. Some of these activities include; check in / check out of source code, maintaining revision control & history information to a document or product and implementing sound change control processes.

Testability can help you implement solid SCM processes which when organizationally supported can save your project money by improving quality, reducing problems, and making maintenance and rebuilds of various products more accurate & reliable.

Change happens, control it.

Requirements Analysis

Software requirements are the building blocks of any software application. Too often however, requirements are created with an inherent ambiguity causing a domino effect within the software lifecycle of missing functionality and/or defective software.

Some estimates say that 50% of software project failures are directly attributed to poorly defined requirements. Ultimately, the expectation between what is produced and what is expected is based on the quality of a projects requirements.

Testability can review and analyze your project requirements ensuring they are clear & measurable and will pass the SMART test. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

Be SMART about getting your requirements right from the start.

Test Planning & Management

Without proper planning and strong leadership in software testing, the testing process and test team can end up bearing the brunt for all things wrong on a software project.

Testability resources bring years of solid experience in dealing with the the pitfalls and risks of delivering quality within fast paced software environments where the focus is schedule-driven, rather than quality driven.

Test planning and estimation, designing a test strategy, reviewing design artifacts, managing the test teams efforts and overseeing acceptance testing are just a few areas addressed by Testability to better manage your software testing.

Trust your testing initiatives to Testability.

Functional Testing

Functional testing is designed to ensure the system requirements and specifications are met once the system components are fully integrated.

Testability provides the following types of functional testing.

  • Requirements Testing
  • Regression Testing
  • Exploratory Testing
  • Interface Testing
  • Negative Testing
  • Compatability Testing
  • Security Testing
  • When you need a group whose focus is on your software's quality, Testability is the clear choice.

    Load & Performance Testing

Application performance is often the #1 complaint among software users.

Performance problems can be caused by a number of things: poor architecture, underpowered CPU, poorly developed SQL code, or a combination of other factors.

Regardless of the causes, the outcome is unscalable and slow-to-respond web applications equals "frustrated users."

Testability can work with your organization to help define an approach to performance testing your web applications in order to identify those areas of your application/architecture that are areas of concern.

Let Testability identify your software performance issues, instead of YOUR users.

    Software Testing

Testability, Inc. is a Software Testing firm located in Tallahassee, FL.

    How we’re different...

The reality in software development is this.  Not all software projects have the time, money and organizational understanding to implement the rigorous processes needed to ensure a more documented, quality software product for their users.

Our philosophy at Testability is "we meet you where you are, not where you should be".  You know you have process and quality problems; you don’t need your testing firm to tell you that.

You need your testing firm to test and find defects before your users do, plain and simple.

Most testers will state that without documented testable requirements, they can’t adequately test the system. "How will I know what the expectation is for this function" or "is this edit working correctly based on some undocumented business rule"?, etc. etc.

Fact - Not all software created is developed based on clear, concise documented requirements.

Testability can offer professional testing resources armed with years of experience in understanding how to make an impact in environments that are less than structured.  Initial exploratory testing techniques and analysis can not only uncover defects but begin to lay the groundwork for a more documented, structured approach against future versions.

Organizations need testers that will help them uncover defects, at whatever state the development lifecycle is in. Not a tester that can only function in those carefully managed & controlled environments you read about in textbooks.

Contact Testability today to determine how we can partner with you in helping to ensure your software’s quality is as good as it can be, regardless of your current state.
